Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her performances in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney is the sole child of the United Auto Workers senior executive and a domestic worker, was raised with her four brothers and sisters. When she was a kid she longed to be a court reporter. But after she graduated from high school and relocating into New York in the 1980s then she started modeling. Her first acting job was as a teen innocent in All My Children, a soap-opera from 1981. Delaney was in numerous of TV movies, film as well as dramas in the years since. Personally, her professional life hasn't been successful and happy. The accomplished actress battled addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fail. In 2005 she lost the custody of her son.
