Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was when she discovered a keyboard in her loft and being amazed by the music. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes advised her to make music as a means of personal growth, rather than for the purpose of making a living or as a hobby. This led to her started writing her own music. In addition to Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mom encouraged her to play her music publicly, not to achieve fame, but rather to help others realize the importance of their work and the good they do for humanity. The mother of her child suggested that she be able to perform her music publicly in order to help people realize their importance and the ways they can affect the world. It was not until she turned 14 that she revealed her plans to her parents. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. Her sole passion is writing music. The songs she creates are the way that she feels anything.
